Emby B. Steele

      LEWISTON, Idaho, Nov. 6 – Emby B. Steele, 79, who died Sunday evening at his home here and an illness of three years, was born at Woodbine, Ky., August 16, 1872, and moved to Weippe in 1900.

     From that year until 1931 he worked for the Erb Brothers’ mercantile business. From 1931 to 1948 he was probate judge of Clearwater County at Orofino, moving to Lewiston upon retirement in 1948.

     He married the former Josephine McFarland, who survives at Jellico, Tenn., January 1, 1898.

     Steele was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Christian Church.

     Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters; Mrs. R. M. Parsons, Coeur d’Alene; Mrs. Gib Kelley, Boise; Mrs. Arvid Nelson and Lucille Steele, Lewiston, and nine grandchildren.

     Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 at the Christian Church, the Rev. Paul Dean Hill officiating. Interment will be at Normal Hill cemetery. Brower-Wann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
